In Korea it was designated as a Natural Monument on November 4, 1982.
As a species protected worldwide as well as in Korea, the owl has the nature of catching and accumulating whatever it preys on, so it symbolizes wealth.
It is also called myo-du-eung (ÙÞÔéëí), where myo (ÙÞ, meaning cat) signifies longevity as well, because it is pronounced similarly to the Chinese character "mo (耄)" meaning "70-year-old people."
The ancient Greeks called the owl "the goddess of wisdom" or "the friend of Athens."
The owl`s big eyes light up the darkness like a lantern, inspiring us to shake off anxiety and move forward.
