Daedongyeojido is a map of the Korean peninsula created by Kim Jeong-ho, a geographer and cartographer of Joseon, in the 12th year of King Cheoljong`s rule (1861).
It is a book consisting of 22 folded pages, which can be unfolded to constitute one whole map.
Each page corresponds to a section of the peninsula of an actual size of 80 by 120 ri (1 ri being approx. 393m).
Daedongyeojido is the most detailed map ever produced during the Joseon Era. By reconceiving the national map in a rational and simplified form and by publishing its woodblock prints, Kim Jeong-ho contributed also to the diffusion of maps to the general public, and their popularization.
"Daedongyeojido" is a scientifically surveyed map of 22 sections that Gosanja Kim Jeong-Ho made and published in 1861 (the 12th year of King Cheoljong`s reign in the Joseon Dynasty period).
This map is a single-sheet miniature version of the originalpossessed at present by the Seoul National Science Muse.
